Rill – Main character controlled by player.

Micah – Romantic interest. Fun, spontaneous, flirty, and selfish. Likes Rill because of his celebrity and money.

Blossom – Romantic interest. Shy, safe, level headed, good girl. Pure of heart. Likes Rill because of his noble quest.

Feldspar – Town constable. Father of Blossom. Honorable. Handles law issues not related to mining. Irritated at the mining corporation running the town. Gives advice to Rill to advance storyline.

Creosote – Local commander of the corporate army. Huge ego and delusions of grandeur. Recurring antagonist.

Stefan – Local Vice President of Operations of the mining company. Orders Creosote and other mining company operatives around. Main antagonist.

Gil and Roe – Rill’s aging parents. Smart and supportive of Rill. Used primarily as a plot device to drag Rill into the conflict by being kidnapped by the corporation as “insurance” that Rill won’t disrupt the mining operation. Of course, this has the opposite intended effect.

Jansen – Rill’s childhood friend. Kind of a nut. Doesn’t exert self control. Makes passes at all the ladies. Rill will eventually go to him for discounted common items and expensive illegal items he can’t get at the company store.

Coop – Company store shop clerk. Loyal to the company and not very friendly. He is known to snitch on anyone if he hears gossip in his store. Used as a plot point to pass false information to the company.

Jimson – Miner’s foreman. Mining is his life. Cares more about the miners lives than the company’s bottom line. He is a source of background information and storyline advancement.

Oslo – Company crystalmancer and engineer. Invents the clockwork army. Typical mad scientist.

Charlene – Romantic interest. Daughter of Stefan. Crystal War veteran like Rill. Closer to Rill’s age than the other girls and can best relate to his experiences as a war veteran. Loyal to the corporation by family ties. Does the “dirty work” the company needs done that Creosote is not allowed to do by law. Turns on her father near the end of the story to save the town from annihilation. Recurring antagonist.
